Who the Local SEO module is for

Anyone marketing businesses that serve customers in a specific city — clinics, restaurants, coaching centres, salons, showrooms — and future freelancers.

Local SEO is Module 07 of 27 in the BIIM digital marketing course and sits in the SEO & Search track. You can take it online from anywhere in India, offline at our Patiala head office, or in a hybrid of both.

How we teach Local SEO, step by step

Every BIIM module follows the same rhythm: learn the concept, practise it on real tools, then apply it to a live business with trainer feedback. In Local SEO, that looks like this:

  1. Claim and verify. Set up the Google Business Profile with the correct name, address, phone and category.
  2. Complete everything. Add services, hours, photos, products and a keyword-aware description.
  3. Build reviews. Create a simple, honest system for asking happy customers to review.
  4. Stay active. Post updates, answer questions and keep citations consistent across directories.

Common Local SEO mistakes — and how to avoid them

Trainers see the same errors again and again when students first try this work. Knowing them in advance saves weeks of trial and error:

  • Using a different phone number or address on different sites.
  • Choosing a vague primary category.
  • Ignoring or arguing with negative reviews.
  • Stuffing keywords into the business name.

How to practise Local SEO on your own

Search “best [service] near me” in your area and study the top three Google Business Profiles. Note what they have that the others do not.
